A little news item that gave me a smile:
Ivan forces relocation of the Hurricane Hunters.
Now, of course, this isn't really something to smile about. Except for the place that they relocated to--Homestead Reserve Air Base. Which used to be Homestead Air Force Base until a decade or so ago when Hurricane Andrew made a beeline for it, and since the base was supposed to shut down anyway, I figured they would just close it down. It's nice to see that that hasn't happened, that they just reused it for something else.
Why am I glad? Because that's where I was born. A place I have never seen in the almost 27 years since my parents moved away from Florida when I was 6 months old. A place I have always wanted to go back to visit and which, after Andrew, I thought was gone completely. Instead, it's not gone, just changed.
Which means I *can* go back there after all. Someday.
Which makes me smile.
