I mostly tend to be rather quiet, but go into overdrive, talking endlessly, now and again (the same thing happens in formal settings, like meetings, but I tend to speak more there). For the most part, I only speak when I think I have something to say.
Also, remember that English is my second language, and my listen-decode-comprehend-reply cycle is a lot slower there than in Swedish. When speaking two or three people, it's hardly noticeable, but it shows in larger groups.
