To all the writers out there who might feel like answering.

So, like, I know writing novels and short stories is not at all like writing poetry. And I know that even if you write novels and/or short stories it takes a lot to even get published in today's environment. And I definitely know enough to not expect to make a living writing *anything*.

But, those of you who've done writing and have had experience in getting things published (or trying to, for that matter), what (if anything) can you tell me about trying to get poetry published? Any tips? Any contacts? Any advice? Anything at all? What about contests?

I mean, if you read this, you've read a dozen or more of my poems. I've been writing poetry long enough now to know that at least *some* of what I write is good.

Lately, more and more I've been getting people who read my poems telling me: "You know, you should like, submit that to a contest or something." "You should get that published--it's good." So now I'm starting to wonder.

What do y'all think?
