A Moment of Complete Hilarity
Jul. 19th, 2004 01:00 pmDiscussing the opening of GGK's Tigana with someone who's just reading it for the first time, and he says, "Well, there was this minstrel shepherd and he made a bet...", only he pronounces "minstrel" identical to "menstrual". Of course, I do a double take and then the tired brain finally processes and I say, "Oh, you mean *Alessan[1]*...".
God, I love these East Texas accents! *grins*
[1] Note to those not familiar with Tigana, Alessan is a male character, and thus although he may be minstrel, is in no way, shape, or form *ever* going to be menstrual.
*still laughing*
