I'm taking a moment today to wish my dad a Happy Birthday. Granted, he probably won't ever read this, but it still should be said. I can't wait to meet him and my mom at the restaurant tonight and celebrate. I can't wait to go home this weekend and be with him. For all the times he and I have fought--and we're both very strong-willed, stubborn people--for all the times that he wanted me to do things his way and not my way, for all the times he was wrong and I was right, and for all the times he was right and I was wrong, still I can hardly imagine my life without him in it. He is someone I depend upon, someone I trust, someone I love. Despite everything, despite all the things he thinks he failed me on, he is still the best dad I can ever imagine, and certainly the only one I've ever known. Happy Birthday, Dad, and I love you. I don't say it nearly enough, I know.
