Today being Good Friday, it was a holiday at work. I went in anyway, because BOD has to be done, holiday or no. During the workday, I was preparing to add the seed to the bottles, which is one of the last steps before read-on. The beaker that contains the seed has a twisted metal wire apparatus that attaches to it, to hold the intake nozzle for the seed pipette. I peeled back the saran wrap that is kept stretched over the beaker (to prevent dust from getting in), and I noticed something. A ladybug. A live ladybug, sitting on top of the wire apparatus. Somehow, it had gotten into the building, into my lab, and under the wrap. I could scarcely believe it. I carefully coaxed it into my hand and took it outside and let it go.
