All Places
Aug. 7th, 2006 05:35 pmI am the cat who walks by himself,
and all places are alike to me.
I am the cat who walks by herself,
and every place is new to me.
At the Campbell’s they have a pair
of snooty Siamese twins
that look down their noses at me.
But the Goldens next door
have four who are friends
Anne, Beth, Chloe, and Dee.
At the Hastings’ they feed
a dozen or more
ferals and strays every day.
But the Thompsons, I know,
hate cats to be sure—
so there I don’t genr’lly stay.
At McDougal’s I greet
a funny pooch with no hair
who yaps something fierce after dark.
But the Saunders keep two—
and for them, as I know—
their bites are much worse than their barks.
At the West’s there’s a wall
not short but quite wide
where I like to sing now and then.
But the Otts over there
hate my score and they both
throw old smelly shoes at my end.
At the Austen’s I linger—
here’s a boycat that’s eager—
alas that my folks had me fixed!
Then I head along home
to my own—and once there—
I wake them all up prompt at six!
