A Prophet Not Honored

Last night I dreamt I was on a college campus and I saw Penn & Teller. And when I got home and told my parents, they didn't believe me.
There were several weird things about this dream. First, the college was a weird amalgam of Virginia Tech and Kilgore College. Second, I did not know in the dream (and still don't know) if I was a student or teacher. Anyway, I was driving along a street on campus and saw this tall, hefty guy walking out into a crosswalk. He had long, curly, dark hair that looked like a wig and I couldn't see his face. Naturally I slowed and stopped to let him cross. I remember that he had his hands in his pockets. He walked about half-way across, and I was preparing to continue on, when I saw him stop and turn back. Wondering what was up and why he was recrossing the street, I looked over and saw a shorter guy entering the street from my right. He also had a long, curly, dark wig on. Something in the way the two of them walked hit me--it was Penn & Teller! Right in front of me!
At that point in my dream, I remembered that the day before, when I was on campus, I had seen Penn & Teller in their usual garb, and they appeared to be setting something up. So I was torn between jumping out of my car and getting their autographs and feeling that they were probably in the middle of taping something (probably for their HBO show) and I should be polite and not interrupt. Anyway, they finished crossing the street and I went my way home. At this point, a number of totally unconnected but very vivid things appeared in my dream.
The first was, as I was making a particular right turn, I saw a chipmunk on top of the stop sign at the intersection I was going through. Second, when I got home, it was where my parents were living, as well. My parents and I have never lived together near any campus that I've been affiliated with (either as teacher or as student). Third, the house did not in the least resemble any of the houses we've ever lived in. Fourth, there was a hill behind the house with trees on it, but unlike the hill behind my parents' current house, this one was full of oaks (instead of pines). It was fall, and the brown oak leaves made a very vivid and beautiful scene in the dusky light and in the middle of them was a black longhaired cat, just lying there. We've never owned a black, longhaired cat. Finally, when I got into the house, in the living room there was a bunch of candlesticks set up as decoration/display. They were light blue and white, twisted, set in crystal candlesticks. But a couple of them were knocked askew and several were on the rug, broken, as if someone (maybe the cat?) had knocked them over.
So I sat down and started picking up the pieces as my parents came in and we were chatting about our respective days. So then, at one point, I just had to say something like "Oh, and guess what *I* saw on campus today! Penn & Teller!" And they didn't believe me. The impression I got was that they thought I was imagining things or exaggerating or whatever. I was really hurt by this and finally said something like "Look, I am *not* mad and I am *not* crazy and I am *not* stupid. And I *did* see Penn & Teller on campus today!"
At which point I went upstairs and closed and locked my door. I think one of them came by later to say something to me and I said something like "Go away. You didn't believe me so I'm not talking to you any more tonight." (Sounds really teenagey and angsty, doesn't it? But I was hurt.) And I proceeded to deal with my homework. Again, I can't tell if I was generating it or grading it, but that's where my dream ended. Weird, no?
I can probably guess where my thoughts of Virginia Tech came from--that incident on Monday. Between that and the CO poisoning this past summer at Roanoke College, my alma maters aren't doing too well this year. But the rest of it? Your guess is as good as mine.
