It was a train new to service, though, and designed to be speedier than the usual. I don't know, nor does anyone seem to know at the moment, whether that was a factor.
To my knowledge I didn't have anyone in my family traveling on it, but friends... I don't know. I'd call hoome, but I guess no one would know either, at the moment. I think I'll wait a couple of hours.
Now I know a bit more: No one in the immediate circle of my family was traveling. Other than that, the folks in Turkey are still waiting for an official cause diagnosis as well.
CNN has one detail wrong in the article they now have: It wasn't the maiden voyage. That train and line had been in operation since June 6.
I'm wondering whether we should be concerned about Jasper. If I remember correctly, he was leaving Istanbul today, though I've no idea in what direction.
