The Coffee Revolution

As most people know, I am not a big coffee drinker. Regular coffee is worthy of toleration only if I am excessively sleep-deprived and it comes with tons of sugar and sufficient cream. For most purposes, I massively prefer tea, cocoa, or cider. Specialty coffees (cappucinos, espressos) are an exception to this rule. For one thing, they tend to be made from superior coffee to start with, and then they put all sorts of sweet, creamy, nifty flavors into the coffee until it really doesn't taste like coffee anymore. Recently, I came into possession of a "try one for free" coupon for a container of Folgers' Cafe Latte. I elected to try the Mocha Fusion, and oh man, am I hooked. Sweet, chocolatey goodness, mmmm....

Date: 2004-10-15 08:17 am (UTC)Um, I don't want to sound like a coffee snob or anything (well, okay, I do), but where on Earth do you but coffee that esperesso is filled with sweet and creamy flavors to make it not taste like coffee?!?!?!? That's like, the complete antithesis of espresso! Like, anti-espresso!
(Note I'm not objecting to the concept of sweet and creamy additions to coffee, just the abuse of terminology.)
