01. Reply with your name and I will write something about you.
02. I will then tell what song/movie reminds me of you.
03. If I were to apply an o'clock to you, it would be...
04. I will try to name a single word that best describes you.
05. I'll tell you the most memorable moment I've had with you.
06. I will tell you what animal you remind me of.
07. I'll then tell you something that I've always wondered about you.
08. Put this in your journal.

01. You strike me as someone who is very energetic and very determined, but somehow hasn't quite meshed the two together yet. But you're learning quickly.
02. "NYC"
03. 11 pm
04. Geeky. (In a cool way.)
05. Meeting you for the first time. "Oh, yeah, and I'm the one with the wierd name."
06. A badger.
07. What turned you on to fantasy in the first place?

The escape from the mundane...some of my earliest were books like The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, which started with kids stuck in a house finding a portal to another world, one far more interesting and magical. (I was too young, and too Jewish, to pick up on the allegory back then; I didn't read beyond the first one or two anyway. I should read them again.)

That, and lots of video games with other, more interesting, worlds.

01. I can see where your flaws are, but I don't really care. You're one of the sweetest, most fun, most bubbly people I know and I'm glad I'm your friend.
02. Sugar Sugar
03. 3 pm
04. Cuddly
05. The carrot soup. I still salivate over that one.
06. Not to disparage the cleavage rodents, but actually, a white Persian.
07. If circumstances were right, would you want to date me?

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't date you. You're a good friend, and a lovely woman, but just not my type at all.

Jimsey, wasn't it?

01. I like you and I trust you, though I'm not sure why, since I've spent less than a day in your physical vicinity. Still, I'd walk down a deserted alley with you.
02. Leroy Brown
03. 5 pm
04. Competent
05. Again, meeting you the first time. The combination of the beard and the black trenchcoat had me going there for a sec. *grin*
06. Black bear
07. How do you manage to stay sane, given where you live and what you do?

1: I don't know whether I should be flattered or crushed. I've never been able to shake that whole 'niceguy' vibe that I've given off since at least middle school.

5: Did I have facial hair when we first met? I go through phases, though my wife tells me I'm not allowed to shave it all off while I have long hair. I think she's trying to tell me something...

7: That's easy, I've just gone with complete and total apathy! Everyone should try it, their stress levels would go way down. The truth is that I don't; I make no claims of sanity. The important bits are my refusal to work hours I don't get paid for, insuring that I don't end up living at work (which is something I did before Evan was born), and shifting my hours so that I don't deal with traffic.

01. I don't know you half as well as I should like, especially since I sense that there's a lot more to you than you let on on the surface.
02. Does Your Mother Know That You're Out?
03. Noon
04. Quiet
05. Only a few hours after I met you, you were trying to get me to sit on your lap. For some reason I still can't quite fathom, I found that amazing.
06. For some odd reason, a meerkat.
07. Is the fact that you don't tend to say much (IME) more because you're shy or more because you prefer to watch and listen, rather than talk?

05: Well, I like having nice women in my lap.

07: Actually, I'm pretty much on or off in social settings. I mostly tend to be rather quiet, but go into overdrive, talking endlessly, now and again (the same thing happens in formal settings, like meetings, but I tend to speak more there). For the most part, I only speak when I think I have something to say.

Also, remember that English is my second language, and my listen-decode-comprehend-reply cycle is a lot slower there than in Swedish. When speaking two or three people, it's hardly noticeable, but it shows in larger groups.

01. While I enjoy your many sterling qualities, the thing I find most attractive about you, actually, is your accent.
02. 2001 A Space Oddysey
03. Midnight
04. Intelligent
05. Meeting you and only realizing a half hour later who you were.
06. Bat
07. If you could somehow be less bitter and cynical, without changing any other part of your personality, would you? Or not?

01: Actually, I'm really rather pleased by that. With the UK in general sliding these days into a soap-opera-fuelled dialect of Estuary English (the ghastly East London version with the dropped aspirates and tortured vowels), I do make a conscious effort to avoid slipping away from my self-consciously "proper" accent, and it's always nice to know one's efforts are appreciated. *grin*

05: Heh!

07: It depends. Taken on its own, yes - I'd love to be less bitter and cynical, preferably not at all. On the other hand, my bitterness and cynicism are tied inextricably to having high expectations of the world that are almost invariably unmet, and low expectations of the world that are often exceeded, so if I am escaping bitterness and cynicism by accepting that the world in general will suck and will frequently suck more than I can possibly imagine, I'll pass, thanks. Even in the mud, I can look at the stars, et cetera. On the gripping hand, if that was no longer the case, then I'd be happy to lose that part of me, but then, if that was no longer the case, that would happen automatically...

02. The Dead Pool
03. 10 am
04. New
05. Since I've never met you in person, this would be in the "to be experienced" file.
06. A lemur.
07. Actually I wonder a lot of things about you but they're probably too personal to ask on such brief acquaintance.

#7: Nothing is ever too personal to *ask* -- though it may be too personal to answer. And tying into #1, if we don't get along, it's likely due to me being an ass.

02. Phantom of the Opera (movie)
03. 8 pm
04. Vivacious
05. I have two, actually. Soon after we first met, you came over to my house to spend the night studying for finals and we made those no-bake lemon bars. And, of course, making that four course meal for my parent's 25th anniversary.
06. A mockingbird.
07. I guess the only thing I wonder about you anymore is how I got so lucky as to have you for a friend.
