the earth is strong
the earth is wise
it is under my feet
as I wend my way
like the giant Antaeus
I come home to the earth
I come home to the land
for all things come from it
and all returns to it
I come home
in my turn
tired and beat
longing for rest
I lay down with it
I sleep within it
safe and secure
and arise stronger, wiser
to tread my paths anew
the earth is patient
the earth is kind
it waits for me
for it knows what I need
I need to return
to return to the land
the land of my family
I come home
depressed
I leave
stronger, better
I am healed
by the earth
by the land
the trees moan in the wind
the grass dead at my feet
the hills framed by the sky
as I walk
as I wend my way
among the paths I have trod
past memories
past years
renewing my soul
for the next of life
I learn patience
I learn discipline
the earth is calm
the earth is stable
under my feet
I climb the hill
I rejoice to climb
in the embrace of the earth
it welcomes me home
like a child at the breast
holding me close
and all that I do
brings me back home
to this land
to my land
to the earth
the earth is wise
it is under my feet
as I wend my way
like the giant Antaeus
I come home to the earth
I come home to the land
