"STD cards mailed"

Ummm, shouldn't you guys have disclosed that to each other by now?

And 'sides, I think sending cards is an awful way of telling each other.

I've been saying much the same thing... her father pointed out that under Texas law, if you cohabitate for 6 months, you're common-law husband and wife.

She usually responds with a very friendly, face-melting glare.

She ain't my sweetie for nothin'.

New York state doesn't actually recognize common-law marriages.

As my beloved Civil Practice professor wittily asserted (and this is a lawyer joke if there ever was one [that is, a joke for lawyers, not about them] "You can't get married by adverse possession"

New York state doesn't actually recognize common-law marriages.

Neither does California. Makes me happy, as it makes it hard to be long-term roomies of the opposite sex and not have to start paying higher taxes...
